Who's Really Making Change in the Community? Andrew Parker has the answers.

If there is one man who knows anything about community, its Andrew Parker. A pillar in Northside Edmonton, some may know him for his annual outdoor basketball tournament, Pride of the Northside. Some may know him as a teacher at their high school, M.E. Lazerte, and some may know him as Golden Bears Alumni. He joins The Gifted Gab, as the Co-Founder of the Black Teachers Association.

Last summer, Mr. Parker gave a speech in front of 15,000 people at the Alberta Legislature Grounds, and in that speech he referred to Edmonton being, '“Canada’s city of brotherly love”. What Mr. Parker was able to capture that day, was a sliver of the work he has done for his community. From representing at Canada’s big dance, to hosting the biggest jump off on his block every summer, to teaching on the front lines and advocating for his people. Andrew Parker is the definition of a leader.

We had the pleasure of discussing his personal story, inspirations, and dive into where the real change is really coming from.
